Watch for these common signs that point to dirty or clogged ductwork:
Customers across northeast Tennessee often describe seeing “puff clouds” of dust when they first turn on the AC each season, or noticing a persistent “stuffy house” smell that clears only briefly after the fan runs. These symptoms point to buildup inside the duct system that needs professional attention.

He exceeded his responsibilities by adding a heat pump to my home purchase. Without prior acquaintance, he took the initiative to visit the property and assess the job requirements. On the same day, he contacted me to confirm that he could complete the task within a few hours, providing a reasonable price. I was delighted not only by the affordability but also by his ability to schedule the work for the following week. After searching for a month for someone to undertake this project, I encountered numerous companies unwilling to travel to my area. However, Matt not only accepted the job but also executed it with remarkable skill and efficiency, all while keeping costs manageable. I wholeheartedly recommend him and his company to anyone seeking honesty, quality workmanship, and a customer-first approach. Thank you, Matt, for your outstanding support "Lisa Russ"Posted on Brianne Hess2025-10-06Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Matt and his team are amazing! Scheduling was very simple and the person organizing dispatch was courteous. The technician was professional in appearance and behavior. Initially we had scheduled for an annual maintenance which was quoted at $199 but as it turned out we were having problems with our evaporator coil freezing so that was reduced to a diagnostic service call for only $80; that was my mistake for scheduling it as an annual checkup as opposed to a service call so I don't know that the tech was prepared to do cleaning and/or repairs. He did inspect the equipment however, after finding our return vents suboptimal are evaporator coil clogged and potentially a bad capacitor and dirty fan blades and our outdoor condenser was reportedly " very loud but in operable condition with no leaks in the system" he was adamant that we either spend several thousand dollars having them clean the air handler and replacing some maintenance Parts such as the capacitor, cleaning the fan, and replacing the evaporator coil which involves evacuating the coolant, cutting out the evaporator coil from the copper lines and resetting a new evaporator coil in its place. Alternatively we were offered the option to replace the outdoor condenser and the indoor Handler with some modifications being made to the ductwork to improve return air for approximately $9,000. I disassembled the air handler and cleaned the fan and had a technician from another local company come out and look at the system. they disassembled and cleaned the evaporator coil without having to cut the lines and then rechecked the pressures at the condenser and found the improvements in aiflow had raised pressures at the condenser and solved our freezing problem, he also took the time to evaluate our duct work and while not optimal for an older house the system setup is quite common and should be more than sufficient for the requirements of the air handler furthermore they offered to help us find appropriate filters for the returns to prevent the evaporator coil from getting clogged in the future and advised on appropriate filters to use at the air handler. they evaluated the condenser and found that it was no louder than normal and in good working order. How *long* it stays working... we'll see EDIT: after having a discussion with the owner Matt, I understand his point of view about wanting to remove the coil to clean it to prevent potential liability for damage to the lines that looked likely to occur. The options that he gave us a replacing components versus replacing the entire system were reasonable and allowed us to pick from within our interests and budget. It was not high pressure sales pitch or anything like that. but as always folks, if money is tight a second opinion on such a big project never hurts.Posted on Kristopher Herring2025-09-14Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. AC duct cleaning prices across northeast Tennessee depend on system size, number of vents, and how much buildup has collected. The biggest cost factors include home square footage, number of return grilles, duct configuration complexity, and whether you add sanitizing treatment.
A typical 2,000-square-foot home with standard ductwork ranges from $350 to $550. Larger homes, systems with multiple returns, or heavy contamination involving mold or animal dander run $700 to $1,200 or more.
Watch for flat-rate offers that seem too low. Some companies advertise “$99 whole-house duct cleaning” but deliver substandard results by skipping sanitizing steps, using underpowered equipment, or cleaning only vent covers rather than the full duct system. Professional negative-pressure cleaning with proper agitation tools and post-cleaning inspection takes time and equipment that budget services cannot provide.
For comparison, HVAC duct cleaning covers the full heating and cooling duct network and typically costs the same range, while duct cleaning without the AC-specific focus may be appropriate for systems used primarily with heat pumps or furnaces. Understanding these options helps you choose the right service for your setup.
